After the entire Trump administration saga which forced Google to quit its business with Huawei, the Chinese telecom giant announced that it was working on its very own Android alternative — HongmengOS. Now, in a bid to drum up excitement, Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei has stated that its homegrown operating system is way faster than Android and has a vaster application as well. This OS won’t just work on smartphones but also on network switches, routers, tablets and even data centres.
The Huawei founder also claimed that HongmengOS, when launched will be even faster than the MacOS that features a less than 5ms processing delay. As per a report by GSMArena, the HongmengOS is similar to Google’s Fuchsia OS as it has a wide range of applications.
Ren Zhengfei went on to add that despite the US easing up on its ban on Huawei, they haven’t given up on its own HongmengOS.
Earlier on this year, when the Huawei saga was at its tipping point, the Chinese tech giant trademarked three names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office — Huawei Arc OS, Huawei Arc and Arc OS. These trademarks were reportedly filed on May 24, 2019.
